Leadership Launchpad

Leadership Launchpad is a bold, fast-paced 100-minute workshop designed to inspire young people aged 11–16 to recognise their potential, discover their strengths, and take their first steps towards leadership.

Created as an engaging introduction to personal leadership, Launchpad helps young people understand who they are, what they stand for, and how powerful they can be when they step forward with confidence. Through a combination of interactive challenges, team-based activities, discussion, and reflection, everyone who takes part will develop essential life skills while building a stronger belief in themselves and their ability to make a positive impact.

Within school settings, the workshop is suitable for whole year groups, targeted cohorts, transition programmes, student leadership groups, and intervention programmes, making it a flexible and impactful addition to any school's personal development offer.

In informal and home education settings the workshop is equally powerful as an opportunity to learn, experience and discover more.

What we will explore

What is a leader?

Many young people believe leadership is reserved for a select few - those who are naturally confident, popular, outspoken, or in positions of authority. Launchpad challenges these stereotypes and introduces a more inclusive understanding of leadership.

Students discover that leadership is not a title or position, but a collection of skills, behaviours, and choices that anyone can develop. Through discussion and practical examples, they explore how leadership can be demonstrated in everyday situations and how positive influence can be exercised by people from all backgrounds and experiences.

Your Leadership DNA

Every young person brings unique strengths, experiences, values, and perspectives to the world. In this section of the workshop, students explore their personal Leadership DNA, the qualities that shape how they communicate, contribute, and lead.

This exploration helps students recognise that they do not need to become someone else to be a leader; they can lead authentically by building on who they already are.

Leadership Challenges

The workshop comes alive through a series of high-energy, real-world leadership challenges that encourage students to apply their learning in practice.

Working in teams, participants tackle tasks that require them to communicate effectively, solve problems creatively, make decisions under pressure, and take initiative. These experiences provide immediate opportunities to experiment with leadership behaviours, build confidence, and learn from one another in a supportive environment.

The leadership launch

The workshop culminates in a memorable collaborative challenge that brings together everything students have learned throughout the session.

As the group comes together for the final launch, students are encouraged to reflect on the leadership qualities they have demonstrated and the potential they have discovered within themselves. The experience concludes with a collective celebration of achievement and a challenge to continue developing their leadership journey beyond the workshop.
